Doing The Do

This week has been a bit up and down. I'd tried to fool myself into thinking that i could still have a drink now and then, as long as it wasn't my two problem drinks [Wild Turkey or Black Jim Beam], but gaining weight this week bought that little ditty back to reality. The drinking itself wasn't the big deal, but the nibbling i did afterwards was. And i was nibbling late at night, right before bed. So obviously all booze is off the menu [except for special occasions/events like weddings, work parties etc. Not just 'It's Saturday and it's hot. Let's get a few?"] Because getting healthy is much, much more important than enjoying a drink on a warm summers afternoon!

So i gained a kilo this week. And that put a kink in my plans to be under 170kg by Feb 14. I have to lose 5.3kg [11.6lb] in two weeks to reach that goal. I wont take my eyes off that goal but i realise that's a lot, so i won't be gutted if i don't reach it.

I tried Zumba yesterday on the Wii. Rose was going to do it with me, but quit 4 minutes in, leaving me to do the program myself lol I didn't like it much so i wont do it again. But the same person i borrowed the game off showed me the DVDs on Saturday. And although that was a big more vigorous, i'd rather do them. So i'll see if i can find them cheap on eBay :o)

Then, because the Zumba programme i chose was only 20 minutes, i bought the mini trampoline inside and done 10 mins of jogging on Wii fit plus. And man, that nearly killed me!! Being 400lbs and jogging do NOT mix! lol But you know what? The trampoline made it easy on my joints so i'll do it again :o)

And Jason would like to get fit with me. He thinks that by wearing my hair bands as sweat bands, he at least LOOKS the part. I took this pic and he made me promise that i wouldn't put it on face book. But he didn't say anything about not putting it here >:o)
This week with The Bod Squad, instead of meeting at my place, we had a bring and share picnic in the park - bringing a healthy recipe. 3 of us turned up, including a newbie. I made a recipe from a Woman's Weekly low fat cooking book that was meant to be bacon & cheese bread wedges. But i added other stuff too, like grated veges.[Zucchini, carrot, mushroom & tomato - just a handful] And oh my goodness it was yummy!!! I'll make it again for sure, but only for shared dinner events, coz i'd just eat the whole thing myself if given the chance!

I'd use wholemeal flour too :o)

I have cut my energy drinks down to 1 a day. And leaving it for as long as possible before i have one. I know none is ideal, but baby steps.

So that's it for this week. I hope everyone Else's journey is going well. I haven't had much blogging time of late. I miss my online peeps <3

Sharron, you just sound so positive!! I love it:)

Taking control of the things you want to change agrees with you. I'm so glad your group is going well.

It sounds like you are aiming for reality and not perfection which is the right way to go. You are just figuring out the best possible and manageable way to live the rest of your life and you are doing great.
